Super Wipeout (Channel F)
A downloadable game
First Released: Thursday 19th September 2024
One and/or Two Player game
A port of the 1977 PC-50X game of "Wipeout / Super Wipeout"
This features a representation of all the available games (and with some wizardry, combination of features for new ones) originally released on the "Console in a cart" system. Like the other PC-50X games, they feature games that were around in arcades at the time, the Wipeout variant was likely hidden among the many Pong clones at the time, but this released version for the PC-50X had an array of game modes including a basic Breakout clone.
For Retroachievements creators, see bottom of page for a way of creating some achievements for this game.

Table below shows you the different options, for a total of 18 game modes, however:
Wipeout where all dots are neutral colour (green) is for both 1 and 2 Players
Super Wipeout (where dots are red and blue like player paddles) is designed for 2 Players
Breakout can either be played 1 player like a traditional breakout game or as a 2 Player vs mode - there is no "win" condition other than what you make it - the original game's intention is to get past the paddle and the walls and pass the other side.

I do need to update at some point for a graphical error when resetting when the paddles are off the main field (designed to be similar to the original experience where paddles could go offscreen). I also need to check to make sure all collision works correctly all the time, though at this stage most of the functions are exactly as the original game. There is also a "double vertical move" I haven't implemented yet for hitting the edge of the paddle - this will "slow" the balls movement down on the x axis but potentially will improve dot collecting in those game modes.
Manual to come at another time, but hopefully the above works ok.
There is a byte used for counting the number of times a ball goes out of action, that starts on 0 and counts up by 1 each time to a maximum of 255 (it doesn't overflow back to 0). Send me a message if you get stuck with the game variables and I'll help you out finding it. This could be easily used with the bytes for defining game types along with the score bytes to make retroachivements.
